For Psychiatrists Prescribing MDMA and Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy

Program Overview

This mentorship program is a monthly membership comprising a structured pathway designed for psychiatrists who have received TGA Authorised Prescriber (AP) status for MDMA and/or psilocybin. It provides clinical scaffolding, expert supervision, and a national and international peer network to ensure ethical and evidence-based psychedelic prescribing.

Aims of the Program

✔️ To support Authorised Prescribers and their teams and ensure safe and supported rollout of psychedelic-assisted therapy, consistent with TGA, HREC and RANZCP guidelines on prescribing psychedelic medicines.

✔️ To foster reflective, trauma-informed clinical practice 

✔️ To encourage practice improvement

✔️ To build capacity through consistent and structured supervision, shared learning, and accountability

✔️ To encourage consistency in care quality across Authorised Prescribers in Australia

Who Is It For?

Psychiatrists with TGA Authorised Prescriber status for MDMA or psilocybin, or in the process of applying

Clinicians seeking structured support in developing their psychedelic practice

Program Structure


Duration:

Minimum 3 months apprenticeship. Commence anytime and cancel with a month's notice.

Includes per month:

1 x individual supervision with a psychiatrist supervisor

2 x group supervision sessions with a psychiatrist supervisor

On-call clinical and regulatory support 

Access to additional supervision as required

Webinars from diverse speakers and therapists on a range of topics:

  • Onboarding to the mentorship model

  • Legal, ethical, and reporting frameworks 

  • Protocol design, HREC applications, understanding informed consent

  • Medication tapering

  • Preparation and integration psychotherapy models and approaches

  • Working in a therapeutic dyad and with multidisciplinary teams

  • Webinars from Australian and International experts

  • Supervision of supervision - guidance for authorised prescribers supervising therapist teams

Monthly Webinar Learning Circles

  • Facilitated, confidential case discussions

  • Thematic topics (e.g., working with trauma, managing transference, integrating spiritual experiences)


Dyad and Team Collaboration

  • Guidance on building and managing multidisciplinary teams

  • Guidance on working in therapeutic dyads

  • Access to a directory of trained psychologists and therapists

  • Co-therapy with an experienced psychedelic assisted therapist

  • Consent forms, screening checklists, treatment agreements

  • Risk management guides, adverse event protocols
